The Kundila Youth Development Association (KUYODA), in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State, has inaugurated a new skills acquisition centre aimed at empowering young men and women with vocational skills for self-reliance.
The inauguration ceremony, held at Kundila Primary School, attracted dignitaries from different parts of Kano State, including political leaders, community stakeholders and other guests.
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of KUYODA, Barrister Nasir Ado, described the establishment of the centre as a significant step towards providing youths with sustainable means of livelihood.
He said the initiative would help engage young people, reduce idleness and discourage youths from engaging in social vices, particularly drug abuse, by equipping them with skills that would make them productive members of society.
Barrister Nasir appreciated all individuals and organisations that contributed towards making the dream a reality.
In his remarks, the Kano State House of Assembly member representing Tarauni Constituency, Hon. Dahiru Sule (ADS), stressed the importance of creating employment opportunities and empowering youths.
The lawmaker, who served as the chief launcher of the centre, donated N1 million to support its activities.
Similarly, the House of Representatives member representing Tarauni, Hon. Mukhtar Umar Yarima, pledged his commitment to supporting the centre and ensuring it receives the necessary assistance to achieve its objectives.
Hon. Yarima, who was represented by the Kano State NDC Financial Secretary, Hon. Engr. Shamsuddeen, promised to sponsor youth training programmes and provide start-up capital for beneficiaries of the centre.
Engr. Shamsuddeen also pledged to use his expertise in technology and craftsmanship to provide the centre with the required training support, while donating N1 million.
Meanwhile, the APC House of Representatives aspirant for Tarauni Constituency, Hon. Nasir Aminu Ja’oji, who was represented by Hon. Ali PRS, also donated N1 million to the centre.
Earlier in her remarks, one of the community elders in Kundila, Justice Maryam Ahmad Sabo, highlighted the importance of unity, mutual support and helping others to achieve positive change in society.
Justice Maryam Ahmad Sabo supported the centre with a donation of N200,000.
The organisers said the centre would focus on training youths in various vocational skills to promote economic empowerment and create self-reliant individuals within the community.
