The chairman of Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Dr. Shu’aibu Hambali, Turakin Taura, has announced the constitution of an 18-member committee to coordinate efforts aimed at addressing the activities of encroachers and criminal elements across the local government area.
A statement from the Information Officer of the area, said the chairman made the announcement following a stakeholders’ security meeting convened to review the security situation and strengthen measures for maintaining peace and protecting lives and property in the area.
Dr. Hambali emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and urged both farmers and Fulani herders to avoid any actions capable of causing conflict or undermining the peace enjoyed in the area.
He explained that the committee will be chaired by the council chairman himself, while the Head of the Agriculture Department of the local government will serve as secretary.
Membership of the committee comprises the District Heads of Taura, Majiya and Gujungu, heads of security agencies operating within the area and a representative of the state Ministry of Agriculture responsible for Ringim and Taura Local Government Areas.
The chairman expressed confidence that the committee would work closely with all stakeholders to promote harmony, safeguard agricultural activities and enhance security throughout the area.
